WHAT I'VE LEARNED SO FAR

MODULE 5

 1. While going through this module, the thing that most surprised me was the sheer number of social media types. I knew about the big ones (Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, etc.), but I didn't realize just how many different things are considered social media. Online communication and etiquette: I've been communicating online since AIM was popular, so I'm pretty familiar with the information in that area. (I also remember asking Jeeves questions, yikes!)

I know we learned about Diigo in the last module, but that really stands out as what I will take most from the social media section. I find that so helpful in so many different areas of my life.

2. I watched this when it was first posted, but after watching it again after recent life events, I have a new appreciation for the information Erik gave. I want my digital footprint to be all about making the world a better place. That is so cliché, but it has never been truer for me. I don't necessarily mean to make the entire world as a whole a better place, but if I can make things better for just a couple of people, I will consider that a win. I don't currently have a significant digital footprint. I post things about family, my kids, or work every once in a while, but if you were to Google me, there isn't a whole lot there. I intend to start blogging about my health journey once my diagnosis is in, and maybe help others who are going through the same thing.

3. I dont have anything I feel I had a difficult time understanding.

5. Again, this module, life got in the way and I didn't have the mental or emotional capacity to give (anything) 100%. I am trying to stay above water at this point, but I am doing my best. I appreciate the extension!

6.

Digital Footprint - The mark you will leave on the world in this digital age.

Synchronous Communication - Communicating at the same time, without delays.

Netiquette - Treating others online as people, using courtesy in how you communicate even though you are hidden behind a computer screen.

Social Networking - A way to meet a group of people who share common interests or professions.
